Where This Is
Dover Beaches North sits about 7 miles east of the center of Toms River, out toward the barrier side of the township. It's one of the smaller named areas we work in, tucked in among Dover Beaches proper, Lavallette, and Seaside Heights, all within a few miles along that same stretch. We don't have a landmark list for these blocks and we're not going to make one up - if you live here, you already know your own street better than we do. What we do know is the kind of house that went up in this part of the county and the kind of garage door problems that come with it.
This area, like most of the named sections across our service territory, falls into the general housing wave that ran from the late 1930s into the early 2000s, with the bulk of it clustered in the 1960s and 70s. That build era matters more than any street name when it comes to garage doors, because it tells us what's likely bolted to your header and what kind of opener, if any, got added on later.
The Short Version
If your house is part of that original wave of construction from the 60s or 70s, the door and hardware are older than most of the appliances you've replaced since. Parts for some of that older hardware are slower to source than what's on the shelf for a new door, and that's worth knowing before you commit to a repair on a Friday afternoon expecting same-day parts.
